Prints for AW

WGSN is a trend forecasting website that we use a lot at university when we do projects to do with trend predictions. They recently posted on twitter what prints they think will be big this AW.  I absolutely love prints, whether its leggings, tees or shirts - prints always make an outfit stand out.

Wardrobe essential

These high waisted denim look jeggings from Topshop are only £30 and are an easy alternative to jeans. If like me you hate the way your legs look in jeans, then these are an easy alternative. Jeggings are so much more comfortable to wear on a daily basis than jeans and they are much more flattering for pear shapes or hourglass figures.

Our Latest University Project

We had a briefing today of our latest project. It is to choose a UK high street store, choose a category to look at (e.g. dresses/skirts/t-shirts) and to create a range for an international market for SS14, based on what is in store for SS13! Quite a complex brief!

We then have a budget of 500k, and have to choose where to source the products and in what quantities and finally design a few pieces which would sell in that particular international market. This project is to prepare us for our placements in buying and merchandising.

I am thinking of doing River Island and comparing it to ASOS and Topshop. I have chosen River Island because from working there over Christmas I have an understanding of the company and their competitors and the products they sell.

I am undecided between which category to choose. Either handbags/heels/shirts/tees/shorts/dresses. I need to choose! I best get on with it!

Dip Dye

Dip Dye is a trend I have seen that has already started coming through for SS13. January on the high street seems to be full of sales and very little new stock, however as the sales start coming to an end, the new stock has started appearing in stores and online! The colours that seem to be used in dip dye looks are mainly blues and pinks.

Mandisa Dip Dye Long Sleeve Tunic
This Missguided dress is only £14.99 and is on trend. Cut outs were a key trend for last year, however has carried through to this season, particularly in dresses.

This £20 top from Topshop is a basic that I think I will have to invest in for this summer.

Topshop, £20.

And finally, this dip dyed asymmetric vest. At under £19 from Missguided, this is a cheap way to wear the trend. I adore this whole outfit!

Sick Girl on ASOS

Discover SICK GIRL at ASOS

Whilst browsing on ASOS I came across a brand called 'sick girl'. I had never heard of it til now but it represents the street, urban vibe that ASOS does so well. They only have 10 items on ASOS at the moment and they are sweats, tees, snapbacks and leggings.
My favourite colours are black, white, gold and grey and all these pieces are of that colour palette!

It reminds me of Boy London, so if youre a Boy London fan, then check out sick girl on ASOS.

Unitards

They are the one thing I am dying to wear, but I just can't bring myself to! I have seen girls in unitards and they look absolutely amazing, but I just think my hips and thighs would look DREADFUL! Maybe if I hit the gym for the next 5 years I may look okay in one! However, these are my favourite unitards on the high street at the moment.

ASOS - £30

University Project - ASOS

At university, as I am studying Fashion & Textile Management - a lot of the course is based around completing projects on different companies. We have been set a SWOT analysis, and I chose to do mine on ASOS.

I'm sure you know who ASOS are, but completing a SWOT analysis on them has shown me just how strong a company they really are. Starting in only 2000, and they have recently become the most visited fashion website on the planet - this shows how rapidly they are growing.

They are based on innovative and new fresh ideas that keeps them above their competition which means they keep growing and growing. With country specific sites for the USA, France, Germany, Italy and Australia, they manage to target a wide variety of markets all over the globe and have increased their customer base from the UK to worldwide.

Two weeks ago I had an assessment centre at their head office in London. It was exactly what I expected. Minimalist but absolutely stunning. I am just waiting to hear back whether I will be one of the lucky ones who will get to work there for a year! Fingers crossed!

If you are thinking of applying for ASOS for a placement or work experience, I would recommend it. Everyone was so nice and they really help to relax you whilst you're there.

My favourite pieces for menswear at the moment on ASOS are -

this vintage varsity jacket. From looking at SS13 menswear trends, contrasted sleeves are on trend this season and have been predicted to carry through into AW13 so bag yourself or your boyfriend one of these.

This bomber jacket is another one of my favourites. Bomber jackets are huge this season, so whether you want a plain black one that you can wear season after season, or want something a bit different, then this burgundy one is perfect!

Topshop SS13

If you read my blog then you know Topshop is my guilty pleasure. I find it near impossible to go in without my debit card taking a battering. But today, I did the impossible! I was stood in the queue with two tops and I managed to talk myself out of buying them! How I did it - I will never know! One of the tops was this alphabet tee. I absolutely love the print! The second was a white tee with burnout letters. I have told myself that I can go and buy these when I have been offered a placement!

This is another top that I tried on today that I absolutely love. I love the dip dyed look. Last year the big trend was dip dyed hair, however this season it has been interpreted into basic tees.

Kardashians

The Kardashians are probably the best looking family on tv, and I would say one of the most fashionable. Kendall & Kylie are just breaking into the industry, following in the footsteps of their older sisters, Khloe, Kourtney & Kim. They are entertaining to watch and know how to dress.
I love Kim & Kourtney in particular. Their style is very similar to my own. Our wardrobes consist of wetlook leggings, shirts and a hell of a lot of black and white.

This is one of my favourite outfits. Yellow fluro shirt, leggings and Phillip Lims signature bag.

And everybody loves Kims style. She dresses perfectly for her figure.

Fashion Icons

The Olsen twins have the most amazing style (or stylist) ! I absolutely love their grunge looks. They wear black on black and pull it off in such an amazing way!

Rita Ora is another one of my favourite icons. She can wear literally anything and pull it off. I love her urban street look.

Cara Delevingne is another icon who I think dresses so uniquely and absolutely gorgeous.

Check out my Tumblr for more images of style icons.
